The Violent Offender Task Force was attempting to execute a search warrant at an apartment, police said, when a man threatened officers and closed the door. Then the man fired a gun inside the apartment. No other shots have been fired, and there are no known injuries, Assistant Police Chief Jeff Oxton told Times journalists on the scene.

The apartment building has been evacuated, Oxton said.
