MLB is investigating assault allegations against Mets outfielder Khalil Lee made by his ex-girlfriend, a source with direct knowledge of the situation told SNY's Andy Martino.

In a lawsuit that was filed in Syracuse federal court on Wednesday, which was obtained by Syracuse.com, Keriwyn Hill alleges that Lee pulled her hair and choked her on May 7, 2022, and that the assault left multiple bruises and marks on her body.

The Mets released a statement regarding the allegations, saying the team "immediately notified MLB upon becoming aware of the allegations."

"We will fully comply with MLB's policy and cannot comment until the completion of the league's investigative process," the Mets said.

Hill went to the Syracuse police the day after the assault to report it, and an arrest warrant for Lee was signed by a judge on Aug. 10, 2022.

Hill alleges in the lawsuit that Lee assaulted her during an argument, with Lee kicking Hill in the thigh and calling her ugly, after which Hill slapped Lee in the face. At that point, "Hill felt Lee's hand around her neck" for 10-to-15 seconds, "but could not breathe or speak to tell him to let her go," she said.

Lee, 24, is currently on the Mets' 40-man roster.

He played 11 games in the majors in 2021, and two big league games in 2022, spending most of last season with Triple-A Syracuse.
