JSO: One dead in shooting in Cedar Hills neighborhood

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office reported one person dead in a shooting in a Cedar Hills neighborhood.

JSO reports that at around 6:00 p.m. Patrol Officers responded to the 7500 block of Jana Lane North for a person shot.

Once arriving, JSO claims a man in his 30s was found inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound.

the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded and took the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

JSO homicide and crime scene unit are conducting an investigation into the shooting.

The weapon was recovered at the scene by police.

Officers are interviewing other occupants of the residence to determine the origin of the shooting. There is not a believed threat to the community.

At least two other individuals were reportedly inside the house at the time of the shooting and are unknown their relationship with the victim. One person was responsible for calling 911. Both are cooperating with the police.

It is unknown at this time if the shooting was caused due to a dispute or accident.
