Chase Burns earns preseason first-team All-America honors




 

Opening day for Tennessee baseball is slated for Feb. 17.

The Vols will play in the 2023 MLB Desert Invitational in Arizona Feb. 17-19. The MLB Desert Invitational field will consist of Tennessee, Arizona, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Michigan State and San Diego.

Tennessee will play Arizona on opening day. First pitch between the Vols and Wildcats at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in Scottsdale, Arizona is slated for 8 p.m. EST (MLB Network).

Ahead of the 2023 season, Tennessee pitcher Chase Burns earned preseason first-team All-America honors from Baseball America and D1 Baseball.

Burns compiled an 8-2 record in 2022 for the Vols. He appeared in 17 games last season, recording 103 strikeouts and a 2.91 ERA.
