Yankees catcher Kyle Higashioka on receiving Thurman Munson Award, looks ahead to the 2023 season

At the annual Thurman Munson Awards Dinner, held in honor of the late great Yankees captain, SNY contributor Sweeny Murti chats with current Yankees catcher Kyle Higashioka. Kyle relates a story former Bombers ace Ron Guidry told him about the chemistry he had with Munson, not even putting down signs at times, which Higashioka found remarkable. All in all, everything he's heard about Munson is that he was "a special player." Sweeny also talks with him about the dynamics of his relationship with fellow catcher Jose Trevino and how he will develop a feel for new Yankees starter Carlos Rodon's repertoire when pitchers and catchers report to camp.
