Watch: Cubs' Kris Bryant hits home run off Jake Arrieta in batting practice

Cubs baseball is back and so are Kris Bryant home runs.

The Cubs kicked off spring training full-squad workouts down in Mesa, Ariz. this week, and on Thursday, Bryant took live batting practice against Jake Arrieta. The Cubs third baseman got the upper hand on one pitch, sending a blast deep into the field bleachers.

From Russell Dorsey of the Chicago Sun-Times:

Is it only live batting practice in Week 1 of spring training? Of course! But you know it had to feel good for Bryant.

"I always remember that live BP session and you can come out of those things feeling really good or really bad," manager David Ross said. "I don't know if I ever hit a home run in live BP, so that had to feel good off the bat and that ball was crushed."

As for Arrieta, he threw a nasty breaking pitch against first baseman Anthony Rizzo during the same BP session.

Only a few more weeks until the regular season is underway.
