SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) _ Universal Electronics Inc. (UEIC) on Thursday reported a second-quarter loss of $5.1 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the Scottsdale, Arizona-based company said it had a loss of 37 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and stock option expense, were 83 cents per share.
The remote control maker posted revenue of $193.9 million in the period.
For the current quarter ending in October, Universal Electronics expects its per-share earnings to range from 85 cents to 95 cents.
The company said it expects revenue in the range of $188 million to $198 million for the fiscal third quarter.
Universal Electronics shares have climbed 67% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $42.30, a decrease of nearly 2% in the last 12 months.
