Two people cling to life in unrelated Thanksgiving morning shootings in Montgomery

A man and a woman were critically injured in two separate shootings early Thanksgiving morning in Montgomery, police said.

Officers and fire medics responded at about 4:15 a.m. to one shooting in the 700 block of North University Drive. Montgomery Police Cpl. Tina McGriff said they found a female victim there with a life-threatening gunshot wound.

Less than two hours later, police responded to a report of a person shot in the 1200 block of Bassett Drive in south Montgomery. They found a man at the scene about 6:10 a.m. with a life-threatening gunshot wound, McGriff said.

Police said both investigations are ongoing and no further information was immediately available.
