Trump revels in \'lock her up\' chant aimed at Michigan Gov. Whitmer just days after foiled kidnap plot

Trump supporters chanted "Lock her up!" Saturday when the president ranted about Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer at a rally just 10 days after white supremacists were busted for a kidnapping plot targeting her.

At a rally in Muskegon, Michigan, President Donald Trump grinned as the #MAGA throng ate up his denunciations of Whitmer over the restrictions she imposed to limit the spread of coronavirus in the hard-hit state.

"You gotta get your governor to open up your state," Trump told thousands of cheering backers.

That's when the crowd started chanting, "Lock her up!"

The president made no effort to hide his support for the cheers, which mirror the plot by a gang of far right-wing radicals to kidnap Whitmer.

"Lock 'em all up," Trump responded to the crowd.

The "lock her up" chant was a staple of Trump rallies in his successful 2016 campaign against Hillary Clinton.

The FBI and the Department of Justice announced Oct. 8 that they broke up a plot hatched by a ring of 14 far right-wing activists to kidnap or assassinate Whitmer.

Trump has feuded with Whitmer for months and declined to offer his support to her after the plot was broken up.

The governor, who was on Biden's vice presidential short list, irked the far right with her early embrace of strict rules to limit the spread of the pandemic, which has killed more than 7,300 Michiganders.

Armed protesters gathered outside the Michigan Capitol building in May to oppose Whitmer's stay-at-home order. The Michigan secretary of state on Friday barred openly carrying guns within 100 feet of polling places on Election Day.

For Phillip Agnew, engaging Black male voters ahead of the general election isn't just about persuading them to choose former Vice President Joe Biden over incumbent Donald Trump. As an activist and organizer who gained acclaim after leading protests in Florida over the 2012 shooting death of Trayvon Martin, Agnew sees an opportunity to keep the 14.4 million Black men of voting age politically engaged well beyond 2020. "You don't lie, you acknowledge the truth, and admit that the choices before Black people in the year 2020 are abysmal," said Agnew, an organizer with Black Men Build, a group created to empower Black men.

In Swearing In Barrett, Trump Defiantly Mimics 'Superspreader' Rose Garden Ceremony

WASHINGTON -- President Donald Trump, who loves to boast of doing anything his predecessors have never done, pulled off such a historic first Monday. He won confirmation of a Supreme Court justice only eight days before a presidential election, rushing his choice through the Senate before voters decide whether to give him four more years or kick him out of office.Trump then did something else no other president has done. He hosted a nighttime ceremony on the White House lawn to swear in Justice Amy Coney Barrett in a virtual do-over of the superspreader event blamed for infecting multiple people with the coronavirus a month ago to the day, including the president himself, who was forced...
