Social media reacts as Trail Blazers reveal 50th anniversary basketball court

The NBA season doesn't start for another two months, but the Portland Trail Blazers are anxiously awaiting the upcoming season--the team's 50th anniversary.

In front of media members, sneakerheads and influencers on Monday, the Trail Blazers unveiled a new court for the 2019-20 season, which features hardwood, red sidelines, throwback lettering, a minimal "50" year logo and a nostalgic feel.

Trail Blazers alums like Terry Porter Jr., and Bob Gross were in attendance at this event and joined Trail Blazers insider Dwight Jaynes for exclusive interviews, coming to NBCS Northwest soon. Reporter Jamie Hudson caught up with studio host Jordan Kent and analyst Michael Holton, along with artists from the Portland community.

The court unveiling also coincided with Sneaker Week Portland, an annual event that celebrates sneaker culture in Rip City. The Trail Blazers partnered with Sneaker Week Portland to create the Trail Blazers X MARKT'D sneaker design competition-a competition held for over 50 local Portland artists designing one-of-a-kind sneakers in-person.

Here's a look at some of the sneakers designed at this event:

The Trail Blazers 50th season is certainly off to an exciting start. What do you think of the new court refresh, Rip City?
