Even when Selena Gomez is wearing her most casual of looks, she still manages to turn heads with those unexpected details that make us look twice and, sometimes, re-consider what having fun with fashion really means. Whether it's a head-turning silhouette or something a little more subtle, like this past Saturday's mismatched shoes, we love that she throws in those little extra whimsical details when getting dressed for everything from the red carpet to a coffee run.
On September 22, Selena was spotted in a simple 7 for All Mankind sweater that boasted elbow-length puffy sleeves, a pair of casual black sweatpants, and Baja East x Melissa pool slides that included a white style on her left foot and a black style on her right. According to an Instagram post that she shared later that day, her top didn't fare quite as long as the rest of her look, as she wound up spilling that delicious looking iced matcha all over her bright white look.
While many times, high fashion brands will sell intentionally mismatched shoes or something of the like, Selena actually did DIY this trend herself. You can shop the Baja East shoes in black, here, and in white, here. And, for a bonus reason to shop: they're both currently 50% off! What's more, the singer seemed to be sending a subtle message to fans, as the slides read "thriving" when put together, with the "thri" on one shoe and the "ving" on another. It was almost as if she was saying "stop the chatter. I'm doing more than fine."
This isn't the first time Selena has rocked the mismatched shoe trend, as she wore a pair of heels from Jacquemus over the summer that, while they were shown on the runway and sold in boutiques as such, still gave off the same fun-loving vibe as this more casual do-it-yourself set Selena just showed off this past weekend. Hey, while it requires you to buy more than one pair of the colorful shoe in question, this could just be the easiest fall trend to get ahead of-and it's Selena-approved!
