Prince William and Kate Middleton to attend Celtics-Heat game in Boston

Prince William and Kate Middleton, the current Prince and Princess of Wales, will be in attendance for Wednesday night's home game between the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics. The club confirmed the royal visit to TD Garden in a pregame email sent to reporters.

William and Kate are visiting the United States for the first time in eight years. The British royals are in Boston to attend the Earthshot Prize on Friday night, an international contest centered around environmentalism. William and Kate will also reportedly visit the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library, Harvard University, and other institutions around the hub. The couple teased their arrival prior to the game.

The royals met with members of the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation to learn about a current partnership with Boston Medical Center. The in-game Heroes Among US award will go to a local climate activist, the team announced, and the Prince and Princess will join a number of high-ranking Bostonians at the game. Celtics owners Wyc Grousbeck and Steven Pagliuca will be courtside, as will former Celtic Satch Sanders, the mayor of Boston Michelle Wu, and governor-elect Maura Healey.

The Celtics are riding a four-game win streak and sit atop the Eastern Conference standings with the best record in the league. They'll be looking to beat the Miami Heat for the second time in as many meetings this season.
