PFF: Bills finish in bottom half of final offensive line rankings

The Buffalo Bills did not see their offensive line have the best of years in 2022. Pro Football Focus reflected that.

Week-by-week during the regular season, PFF ranked each NFL team's offensive lines, head-to-head. The football analytics outlet placed Buffalo in the bottom half of the league in their final rankings.

According to PFF, the Bills ended up having the 23rd best offensive line in the NFL last season. Not the best finish, and it's not the best look considering the year prior. Buffalo dropped two spots from their final rating at No. 21 at the end of the 2021 season.

While PFF's rankings are subjective, they do fit the eye test. Throughout the season, Buffalo's offensive line never really took off. Consistency in the trenches for the Bills has been an issue throughout the tenues of general manger Brandon Beane and head coach Sean McDermott.

Per PFF's analytics, Dion Dawkins was the Bills' top player on the O-line.

Here's how PFF graded all of Buffalo's qualifying offensive lineman in 2022 (positional ranking):

  • OT Spencer Brown: 53.4 (76th)

  • OT Dion Dawkins: 73.8 (24th)

  • OT David Quessenberry: 59.3 (69th)

  • OG Rodger Saffold 44.0 (74th)

  • OG Ryan Bates: 61.5 (41st)

  • OG Greg Van Roten: (52nd)

  • C Mitch Morse: 61.0 (24th)

While PFF wasn't a huge fan, the Bills did have three of their linemen end up in the Pro Bowl: Dawkins, Saffold, and Morse.
