PETERSBURG - A Petersburg Area Transit bus was hit by a bullet late Tuesday afternoon as it was on one of its routes in the city's Delectable Heights area, police said.
The incident was reported around 5:15 p.m., according to a release from Petersburg Police. The bus was part of PAT's Virginia Avenue route, which includes a one-block stretch on High Pearl Street between St. Mark Street and Virginia Avenue.
It was not exactly clear how many passengers were on the bus at the time it was hit. No one aboard the bus was reported injured.
The police statement did not say if the bus was targeted by the shooter or if the bullet was a stray shot. An investigation is ongoing.
