NBA takes away Kevin Porter Jr. triple-double, credits rebound to Sengun

Third-year Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. will have to wait longer to record the first triple-double of his NBA career.

The 21-year-old thought he had secured a triple-double during Monday's home victory over Oklahoma City, when teammates such as rookie big man Alperen Sengun made sure that Porter retrieved a missed shot by the Thunder during the game's final 90 seconds. But upon further review, the league on Tuesday decided to credit the rebound to Sengun as a "controlled tip," according to ESPN's Zach Lowe.

As a result, Porter will officially be credited with 11 points, 11 assists, and only 9 rebounds during Monday's game at Toyota Center.

Porter will have his next shot at a triple-double when the Rockets and Thunder meet again on Wednesday night in Oklahoma City, where tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Central.

For the 2021-22 season as a whole, the 6-foot-6 guard is averaging 13.3 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.8 rebounds in 31.9 minutes per game.
