Michigan football makes top 4 for elite 2024 running back from Ohio

It's always tough to go into the state of Ohio and take a player if you're the University of Michigan. It's even tougher if said player has an Ohio State offer. And even more so if you're a player the Buckeyes covet.

Michigan football is working to do just that. Currently, the Wolverines have two pledges from the state of Ohio, yet neither - four-stars Luke Hamilton and Ted Hammond - have offers from OSU. But the maize and blue are trending in a positive direction for 2024 Cincinnati (Ohio) Archbishop Moeller four-star running back Jordan Marshall - who just put Michigan in his top four along with Ohio State, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

According to On3's proprietary rankings, Marshall is rated No. 45 in the country, regardless of position, and is the fourth-best running back in the country as well as overall player in the state of Ohio.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine does give an edge to the Buckeyes with a 25.3% chance to reel him in, while Michigan is running third with a 19% chance - with Tennessee second with a 22.1% chance. The 247Sports Crystal Ball has zero predictions for his services at this time.

Michigan is also in the running for fellow four-star running back Taylor Tatum out of Texas, who visited Ann Arbor this past weekend. Marshall visited Ann Arbor on Jan. 14.

Archbishop Moeller's head coach, Mark Elder, has ties to Michigan football as well as Tennessee. Elder, who played safety at Case Western Reserve, was a grad assistant at Michigan in 2005 and 2006, and coached special teams and tight ends with the Vols in 2014-15.
