Mets OF Jake Marisnick placed on 10-day IL with right hamstring tightness

The Mets announced that OF Jake Marisnick was placed on the 10-day IL on Monday with right hamstring tightness.

It's an ailment that he has been battling all season long, and now he is done for the rest of the season with just seven games left on the schedule.

In his first year with the Mets, Marisnick's shortened season stats were .333/.353/.606 average in 33 at-bats with two homers, three doubles and five RBI over 16 games.

Taking Marisnick's spot on the roster is Guillermo Heredia, who was recalled from the team's Alternate Training Site. Heredia was claimed off waivers by the Mets back in late August.

Heredia most recently played with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2019, hitting .188 in 16 at-bats with them in eight games. His overall career number include a .239/.317/.339 slash line with 17 homers and 77 RBI over five seasons in the bigs.

Heredia is already getting some action, as Luis Rojas will have him play center field and bat eighth against the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night.
