Topeka recorded its seventh homicide victim of the month Tuesday when a man was fatally shot in the southeast part of the city.
The man's name and age weren't immediately available.
Officers were called about 12:40 p.m. Tuesday to the scene in the 900 block of S.E. 34th, near its intersection with S.E. Virginia Avenue, said Rosie Nichols, public safety communications specialist for Topeka's city government.
S.E. Virginia runs north and south and is located four blocks east of S.E. Adams Street.
The victim was found at the scene, where he was pronounced deceased soon afterward, Nichols said.
All involved parties are thought to have been located, she said. No arrests had been made.
Police investigative reports were expected to be forwarded to District Attorney Mike Kagay's office, which would decide whether criminal charges would be filed.
No further details were being released.
