Brown shoulders blame for no timeout call in loss to Pacers originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
The Kings' comeback effort fell short in their 107-104 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Friday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Sacramento trailed by as many as 19 points during their contest against the Pacers, but the squad fought back to climb out of their deficit. As time expired in the fourth quarter, the Kings had the ball after a Domantas Sabonis rebound.
However, rather than calling a timeout to draw up a play to tie the game with a 3-pointer, Kings coach Mike Brown allowed the team to carry the ball up the court for the possible game-tying shot rather than using one of their two remaining timeouts.
Harrison Barnes would take a contested shot from beyond the arc, but it was off the mark. Hindsight is 20/20 and it's a decision Brown regrets now, knowing the Kings settled for a contested 3-pointer.
"A heck of a win for them, especially after us being down and coming back," Brown told reporters postgame. "You give our guys credit for fighting and staying in the game and giving ourselves a chance at it at the end. But at the end of the day, I was terrible. I should have taken a time out."
Nonetheless, Sabonis appears content with the play that the team ran in transition and having Barnes shoot the potential game-tying 3-pointer.
"It's tough," Sabonis told reporters after the loss. "Coach trusted us to make the right play. I know. I feel we have two timeouts left, so we could have done something, but I feel like we got a good shot. There's still more time. Maybe we could have moved and maybe not, but HB has been shooting lights out for us, so we definitely live with that. It's a great shot for us."

The Kings will have to regroup quickly as they head south to face the struggling New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday at Smoothie King Center.
