Former Sixers guard JJ Redick announces his retirement from the NBA

Sometimes, a player just knows when it's time. The feeling comes after a certain amount of time and being able to realize that it is time to hang up the sneakers and move on to the next phase of their life.

For former Philadelphia 76ers guard JJ Redick, that time has officially come for him.

After 15 seasons in the league, Redick has announced his retirement on Tuesday morning. The veteran out of Duke had himself a pretty successful career averaging 12.8 points and shooting 41.5% from deep for his career.

Redick spent two seasons with the Sixers from 2017 through 2019 and he averaged 17.6 points and 2.8 assists while shooting 40.7% from deep as he served a big role spacing the floor for Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid to operate. Redick also had a nice two-man game with Embiid out on the floor as well.

Redick will probably continue on with his own podcast, "The Old Man and the Three", as he continues on with his post basketball life. He had a successful NBA career and he is setting himself up nicely for the future.
