El Paso police arrested a security guard in connection with a shooting that wounded a man last week in the parking lot outside NFL running back Aaron Jones' sports bar in the far East Side.

Chris Cain Spaccarotelli, 24, was arrested on Jan. 23 on charges of deadly conduct and unlawful carrying of a weapon after a shooting earlier that day outside Showtyme Sports Grill in the Sun Fire Village retail strip at 2106 Zaragoza Road, police said.

Spaccarotelli works as an armed security guard for the same company that provides security services at the bar, Assistant District Attorney Danica Carmen said Wednesday at a teleconference bond hearing for Spaccarotelli.

Spaccarotelli and another man got into an argument in the bar before they were separated by bouncers, who let Spaccarotelli walk out after he got his keys and said he was going home, Carmen said.

It was not explained at the hearing if Spaccarotelli was working or was off-duty at the time of the argument.

The other man also exited the bar and the confrontation continued outside, where Spaccarotelli allegedly fired a gun eight times and shot the man on his lower right side, the prosecutor said.

About 2:50 a.m., police responded to a nearby home on Merry Meadow Place where they found a man who reported that he had been shot outside the bar, a police spokesman said.

The man had a wound that was not life threatening. Because he did not desire prosecution, Spaccarotelli was not charged with aggravated assault, police and the prosecutor said.

Spaccarotelli, of the East Side, was booked into the El Paso County Jail in Downtown on a $200,000 bond on the deadly conduct charge and a $10,000 bond for unlawful carrying of a weapon.

According to a jail log, he was granted a personal recognizance bond, which requires just a signature and promise to show up for court, for the unlawful carrying of a weapon charge but remained jailed on Sunday in the deadly conduct case.
