CJ McCollum says Jimmy Butler's leadership reminds him of Damian Lillard's originally appeared on NBC Sports Northwest

Jimmy Butler has a reputation of being a bad teammate.

Rumored fights and arguments when he was with the Minnesota Timberwolves, drama with the Philadelphia 76ers, a bad reputation seemed to follow the 5x All-Star from team to team.

But is it 'being a bad teammate' or rather the 'will to win.'

That's what both Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green and Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum think.

The two backed up Butler after Jimmy showed up to Miami's practice on September 24 wearing his teammate, Tyler Herro's, high school jersey.

"They said he was a bad teammate," said McCollum in the Twitter post.

"I love it! Everyone doesn't respond the same when they're challenged by a teammate! We have no problem challenging guys. The key is to back it up w/ work & allow people to challenge you too.

One more quick note on Butler before getting to the Rip City angle of McCollum's words.

Butler just 'fits' in Miami. In his first season in Miami, Butler is averaging 19.9 points, 6.7 rebounds and 6.0 assists. His assist and rebound numbers are the highest in his 10-year NBA career so far. Like Green said above, Butler just needed the right team who wanted to win as badly as he did.

Miami leads the Boston Celtics 3-2 in the Eastern Conference Finals. Game 6 in this series will tip-off on Monday, September 28 at 4:30 PM (PT).

Now, back to the comments McCollum made and more specifically the comparison of Butler to "D" who we can speculate as Damian Lillard. It's a certain leadership style that brings the best out of everyone. Lillard has earned the right and respect to challenge his teammates and in turn, it allows for Lillard to be challenged as well.

It's a type of work ethic that is contagious.

Some may call it hard-nosed, but others say it's just wanting to win.
