Awkward moment: Melania Trump ignored by South Korean girls after pop star appears next to her

A video of the first lady greeting South Korean girls who burst into screams after spotting a member of a Korean pop boy band went viral on social media Tuesday.

The short clip showed Melania Trump smiling at a group of teenagers at a government-sponsored event where she gave a speech encouraging female participation in sports and promoted the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, the Associated Press reported.

But when the girls noticed K-pop star and actor Choi Minho standing next to Trump, they began to scream and clap.

Trump, who noticed the reaction, watched the girls with a wide smile and gestured at Choi.

Many Twitter users praised Trump's long-lasting smile.

"I honestly never saw Melania smiling so genuinely," one person wrote, while another tweeted: "This is honestly the first time I've seen Melania smiling."

But others on social media thought the girls were ignoring the first lady.

Trump Meets With Christie as He Continues Chief of Staff Search

The Trump and Christie meeting occurred on the same night that the president and First Lady Melania Trump welcomed guests, including former aides and campaign donors, to a White House Christmas reception. Christie, who stepped down as New Jersey's governor early this year after two terms, endorsed Trump in 2016 after his own campaign didn't gain traction in the Republican primaries. Earlier Thursday, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin indicated he'd serve as White House chief of staff if Trump wants but said he's happy in his current job.
